Welcome to my history website

For about 3 years, back in the mid 1990s, I was the first WebMaster for Manassas National Battlefield Park, in Northern Virginia. The pages I constructed for the park are no longer available on the Park Service's web site, so I am making some of them available here.

Please understand that I did not write the text on these pages and I am not an expert on these subjects. Most of the text comes from brochures and other writings available from the park. I have lately received numerous requests for elaboration on particular Civil War subjects, and even requests to write people's research papers for them. I post these pages for your benefit because they are no longer available on the sites they were originally written for. You may use the text and photos from this site (with credit to my site) but will have to do your own research.

  • We cannot judge past events solely by the standards of today.
In order to understand history, we MUST consider the attitudes and beliefs of the time.
